Lightweight video player for linux3/8/2023 ![]() I'm assuming your music is organized by music/author/album/#-title.type format. Personally, on my current install I'm using a player called "Decibel", and i've found that to be rather nice. Then again, if typing is too much of a hassle for you and you dont know what a keyboard shortcut is, maybe you are better off using something like banshee, rhythmbox. If nothing else, at least look at the screen shots and feature list. Another person got sick of how ncmpc was a good application but the author didnt do a terribly good job of writing, it. someone got sick of writing play/pause in cli and converted it to n-curses, so it would show you a playlist and whatnot. ![]() It started with mpc, which was the default command line mpd controller. The video support for VLC on Linux is outstanding. When they say multiplatform, they mean it too: VLC runs on Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, FreeBSD and OpenBSD, and even BeOS. If it makes spelling easier for you, it stands for "N-Curses Media Player Controller, C Plus Plus". VLC is is a player and framework that can handle most audio and video formats you’d want to use, and it also works with DVDs, audio CDs, and much more. Thats a really lame reason not to even TRY a frontend. ![]() Here's my config file, because the default isn't great: song_columns_list_format = "(40)" The best thing is that all the searching and stuff is done in an entirely different process, so unless the client is horrendously written, they are generally a lot more responsive than GUI only players that do everything in the sigh main thread.Įvery single other music player except foobar2000 has been awful with 80,000 or so MP3s I have, but MPD handles it wonderfully.
